Anybody can take a car apart. It takes a professional to be able to restore each and every component and reassemble the parts back on a car to have everything work.
A typical car that has been to 3 other restoration shops that are unable to reassemble the car. I get their mistakes and problems, only to have to supply missing and lost parts that are needed to complete the job. In the past, I have taken cars in and I have said that I would never do another one of these again. It is my preference to take a car that has been untouched by anyone and make the car a Number 1 restored car.
I always do the best that I can. I have entered my personal and customer cars in competition at shows that have had continuous winning show cars no one has been able to beat. When I show up with a car that I have restored, like my 1955 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz that my crew and myself nicknamed Bad Girl, shown on the main page of my blog, they lose their original status because I have exceeded their restoration quality that was previously done on their car.
In over 40 years of classic Cadillac restorations, I always put the owners name of the car on each and every restoration that was submitted for an award. In the automotive industry, to place the restorers name as the owner of the car (unless it is owned by the restorer) is unprofessional and shows deception on behalf of the restorer. However, it is acceptable to take credit for the restoration but not for the ownership of the vehicle.
